Back to Work!

The crew came back to work Monday as planned. So far this week they framed the front gable wall of the house, completed the metal roof, completed all of the OSB siding on the entire building and put on house wrap. They also "finish" framed all the garage door openings.
Tomorrow they will be framing the walls upstairs. Next week the garage doors will be installed, and the crew should be ready to install exterior doors and windows. The only windows that won't be installed yet are the trapezoid windows in the West gable end, those are being custom made and will be another couple of weeks. We also had the 3 fiberglass shower stalls delivered this week. The crew will also frame around them next week.

I selected the electrician, he is ready to get started next week. I am still working on the HVAC and plumbing contractors.

I will be away next week attending the HDI conference so I hope for some great progress when I get back the following week.

Installing the last piece of metal roof, we are now water tight from the rain!

The front of the house with all metal roof completed and all the plywood siding installed.
The back of the house with all metal roof installed and all plywood siding installed.
The final piece of plywood siding being installed "Yoder Style". Hey, whatever works!
Inside the shop area. This area is ready for the interior walls to be framed, may get to that next week too. This area is 48 feet wide and 66 feet long, before we break it up into the shop rooms and storage.
A shot of the trapezoid windows before they get covered with house wrap. These were measured and custom ordered on Tuesday.
Putting up the house wrap, 31 feet off the ground. Again "Yoder Style".
I had visitors this evening, this was taken out the window of the camper. It is a buck.

Sub-Contractors

I had sub-contractors out this week to do walkthru's so they could bid on our project. I had two each HVAC, plumber and electrician out. I told them I needed their bids by the end of next week.

Did also have the garage door company out and we now have all 7 garage doors on order so they should be ready for installation about the week of 4/16 or 4/23.

Per my last updated, the Amish crew is off our job site this week and next week so there won't be many updates until they are back the week of 4/16.

We should have exterior doors, windows, garage doors and the house mostly weather tight and secure by early May.

No show stoppers or road blocks on selling the old house, just waiting on all the final appraisals and inspections. So far so good.

Roof Metal

The metal roof on the house is done and the metal roof on the shop areas is about half way done. They put in an 11 hour day yesterday (Saturday) so they could at least get the house under roof. They are going to be off our job site for the next two weeks, they have to finish the trim on another house they are building and the Amish builders daughter is getting married on April 12th, so lot's of preparations apparently.

During that time, I will get sub-contractors out to bid on HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical since I am sure it will take weeks to get them out, get their bids back and then select who we will go with.

The other exciting news is we accepted an offer on our house up North this week! So, let's all hope the appraisal and the inspections all go smoothly and if they do, we have to be moved out by May 17th.

Danial came down yesterday, he is on spring break next week so he is going to spend some time here with me. His 18th birthday is on Tuesday April 10th, so I'll be going home for that, first time home in over 5 weeks. Then Lorrie and I celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary on Friday April 13th!

Picture from close-up early this morning just after the sun came over the ridge.

Picture from standing on top of the pond dam, roof work in progress.

Picture from over by the pond, you can see it is really greening up and I have even mowed the grass twice already around the pond. The leaves are coming out on the trees also.
